Simmi Chan remains undefeated individually
NEW YORK – No. 6 Drexel took a 7-2 victory against No. 10 Columbia on Sunday afternoon at SL Green Streetsquash in Harlem. Columbia drops to 1-3 overall this season.
"The women's final scoreline of 2-7 does not reflect how close the match was," Kenneth W. Torrey Head Coach of Squash Chris Sachvie said. "We lost two of the first five matches on by two points in the fifth game and another by three points. There wasn't much separating us but Drexel's women played well in the end and credit to them. We will use this to fuel our next block of training and be ready for a potential rematch at the Nationals."
Reigning College Squash Association (CSA) Women's National Champion Simmi Chan remained undefeated at 4-0 to start the season as she posted an 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 win over Drexel's Margot Prow in the No. 1 spot to get the day started.
Amal Izhar battled to earn the second win of the day for the Lions with a 13-11, 20-18, 11-5 win against Drexel's Lydia Robinson in the No. 5 spot.
Nourin Khalifa, Sarah Cao, Eugenia Li and Kaavya Bansal fought to send their matches into the fifth game, but all four were defeated in the fifth game as Drexel escaped with four critical wins to seal the team victory.
UP NEXT
