
Wrestling Hosts Maryland to Finish Regular Season

NEW YORK – Columbia will host Maryland for the last match of the regular season Sunday. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start in Levien Gym. Sunday is also senior day. The six seniors will be recognized a ceremony a few minutes before the match starts.

Sunday's match will be streamed on ESPN+. Entry to the match at Levien Gym is free. Updates for the match will also be provided through the Columbia Wrestling Twitter account (@CULionsWR).
BUILDING OFF LAST WEEKEND
The Lions closed out Ivy League action last weekend with trips to Harvard and Brown. Columbia lost a tight contest to Harvard on Friday night, 18-17 before bouncing back to defeat Brown, 36-3 on Saturday in Rhode Island.
Jack Wehmeyer had a strong finish in the last two Ivy League duals of the season as he went 2-0 last weekend. Wehmeyer defeated Harvard's Michael Doggett in a 10-1 major decision on Friday. He followed that up by pinning Aaron Wolk at Brown on Saturday.
No. 25 Matt Kazimir (141), No. 23 Cesar Alvan (157), No. 16 Joshua Ogunsanya (165), and Danny Fongaro (149) also registered wins at Harvard. The Lions dominated at Brown, losing only one bout to the Bears.

Columbia and Maryland will meet for the second season in a row. The Lions dropped a 22-15 contest in College Park, Maryland last year.
The Terrapins are 9-8 overall and 1-7 in the Big 10 this season coming off a 44-3 loss to No. 1 Penn State last Sunday. Maryland will host Binghamton Friday night before making the trip to New York for Sunday's match.
Maryland will have four ranked starters competing in Sunday's dual match. No. 15 Braxton Brown (125), No. 18 Ethen Miller (149), No. 13 Jaxon Smith (197), and No. 24 Jaron Smith (HWT) are all projected to get the nod for Sunday.
