Men's Swimming & Diving Concludes Reglular Season with Victory over Dartmouth

Suckow officially completes undefeated dual meet season
"We finished off the dual meet portion of our season today in Hanover, and the team was engaged from the opening three meter event and stayed focused throughout," Head Coach Jim Bolster said. "We mixed up our line up to give some more of our swimmers a chance to earn their first collegiate wins and the strategy proved successful as Seth Roach, Matt Lou, Tristan Pragnell and Michael Zhang all registered their first victories."
Jonathan Suckow put the finishing touches today on one of the greatest regular seasons you will ever see, sweeping both diving events and setting two Dartmouth pool records in the process. Officially, Suckow has now completed an undefeated season within Columbia's dual meet schedule (along with two wins at the Big Al Invite as well), and he now owns pool records at every Ivy League pool. His scores of 437.63 and 439.28 in the 3-meter and 1-meter, respectively, got the job done today. Nicholas Leavell also had a great performance, coming in second in both events.
"An absolutely historic season of individual performances for Jonathan was completed today," Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. "He won every event he entered, and most of them he won in record breaking fashion. So excited to see how he carries this momentum into the Ivy League Championships."
In the pool, the Lions kicked things off with a victory in the 200-medley relay. The squad consisting of Andy Huang, Demirkan Demir, Noah Czelusta, and Zion James finished with a time of 1:30.98 to take first place.
The team's first individual victory of the afternoon came in the first individual event, as Seth Roach touched the wall first in the 1000-free, clocking in at 9:30.53, to earn his first career win.
Columbia would win the next three events as well, highlighted by a victory in the 200-free from Adam Wu who finished with a time of 1:39.00.
Tristan Pragnell came up big in the 200-back, earning his first career victory with a time of 1:52.09.
Michael Zhang closed things out with a win in the 200-breast (2:06.98).
With the regular season now over, Columbia's next meet will be the Ivy League Championships, taking place from February 22-25. The competition will take place in Providence, Rhode Island.
