Columbia to Host Fairleigh Dickinson in WNIT Opener Friday

Full 64-team bracket revealed
NEW YORK – The Columbia women's basketball team (23-5, 12-2 Ivy) learned that it will host Fairleigh Dickinson (24-7, 14-2 NEC) in the First Round of the Postseason WNIT. The game will take place from Columbia's Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.

The complete 64-team bracket was revealed Monday afternoon. Other matchups in Columbia's half of the 16-team region include Drexel at Fordham, Saint Joseph's at Seton Hall, and Kent State at Syracuse. Should Columbia advance past Friday night, it will take on the winner of Fordham and Drexel.
FDU won the NEC Regular Season Championship and advanced to the tournament final but fell to second-seeded Sacred Heart, 72-60. The Knights are in the midst of their best season in program history. Friday's game between the Lions and Knights will mark their first meeting since January of 2016, as well as their first-ever meeting in the postseason.
Columbia (23-5, 12-2 Ivy) put together yet another historic season under seventh-year head coach Megan Griffith. The Lions won a share of their first Ivy League Championship by going 12-2 in league play. Along the way, they earned significant wins on the road at Princeton, Miami, UMass, Memphis and Seton Hall. The team's 23 wins in the regular season are a new program record.
This marks the 25th edition of the Postseason WNIT, powered by Triple Crown Sports and first held in 1998. The tournament field is made up of automatic qualifiers from all 32 Division I conferences, as well as 32 at-large squads.
