
No. 9 Men’s Tennis Falls On The Road At No. 20 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – No. 9 Columbia dropped a 4-1 match to No. 20 Tennessee on the road Friday afternoon at Barksdale Stadium. The Lions move to 11-2 overall on the season.
The Volunteers struck first by taking the doubles point. Tennessee's Emile Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui took a 6-2 win over Roko Horvat and Max Westphal in the No. 2 doubles. Pat Harper and Johannus Monday clinched the doubles point for Tennessee with a 6-3 win against Theo Winegar and Michael Zheng in the No. 1 doubles.
The duo of brothers, Alex and Nicolas Kotzen was leading Martim Prata and Angel Diaz, 5-3 when the doubles point was clinched. Their match went unfinished.
Hugo Hashimoto evened the match as he earned the first victory in singles action. Hashimoto worked quick to take a 6-1, 6-1 over Prata in the No. 6 singles to earn Columbia's only win of the afternoon.
Tennessee won the next three singles matches to clinch the win. Blaise Bicknell posted a 6-3, 6-4 win against No. 87 Max Westphal in the No. 3 singles. No. 57 Hudd then took a 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 89 Horvat in the No. 2 singles. No. 122 Mitsui clinched the Tennessee win with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Alex Kotzen.

The Lions return home to host Bryant in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 1 at the Columbia Tennis Center. The first match is set for 11 a.m. with the second match following at 4 p.m.
