The No. 1 Lions travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to race against No. 8 Cornell in the Geiger Cup. At last year's Geiger Cup at Overpeck Park, Columbia competed against No. 2 Cornell and Iona. Cornell defeated Columbia's First Varsity Eight team by just two seconds. The Lions' Second Varsity Eight defeated Cornell by four seconds. The first varsity eight race included a photo finish that Columbia won by a bow ball. The Lions also won the inaugural Charles P. Colgan Cup for team points.
