NEW YORK – The Columbia track & field team had a successful weekend, sending half the team to compete at the Penn Relays which began on Thursday and the other half to compete at the Yale Springtime invite on Sunday. Across both meets, the Lions set three new program records and had multiple top-three finishes.
The first record came on Saturday at the Penn Relays when the 4x400m relay team consisting of
Haydn Brotschi,
Chris Balthazar,
Max Comfere, and
Devon Davey clocked in at 3:09.49 which was good for second place in the event. The men's team continued its success in relays when the 4x100m relay squad consisting of Balthazar,
Jahi Hernandez, Davey, and Comfere also set a program record with a time of 40.48 which also was rewarded with a silver medal.
Other top-five performances at the Penn Relays included
Will O'Brien who took fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.87.
Anna Jordahl-Henry took fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.69m. The women's 4x400m relay squad consisting of
Alexis Knight,
Sydney Goldson,
Kimmi Woods, and
Amara Onyeukwu took third with a time of 3:41.40.
Meanwhile, on Sunday at the Yale Springtime Invite,
Yoosang Kim broke his own program record in the shot put event with a mark of 17.17 which helped him come away in first place.
Kayla-Rae Gordon had Columbia's second highest finish on Sunday, coming in second place in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.70. The Lions also had a collection of third place finishes, including
Patrick Passalacqua (shot put),
Obiora Okeke (discuss and hammer throw),
Seneca Willen (800m run),
Camylin Blake (100m hurdles), and
Lailah Malone (discuss).

Next weekend, Columbia will head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Ivy League Outdoor Heps. The meet will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. and continue on Sunday.
