Women’s Rowing Takes Home Woodbury Cup

Lightweight and heavyweight teams also in action
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's rowing team swept all three varsity eight races over Northeastern and Navy to win the Woodbury Cup on Saturday at Overpeck Park.
Lightweight and heavyweight rowing were also in action in the WIT Cup and Childs Cup. For the women's team, this marks the first Woodbury Cup victory since 2019. The Woodbury Cup is named in memory of former Columbia rower and team captain Melanie Woodbury, a 1996 graduate of Barnard College, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 2002.

The lightweight team raced against Navy in the WIT Cup on the Severn River in Annapolis, Md.
"Our third and second varsities put together their best 2k effort yet to come up with wins against fast Navy crews," lightweight head coach Nich Lee Parker said. "The first varsity eight were pushing right with Navy and caught a boat-stopping crab with 400 meters to go. Thanks to coach Bagnall and all the support staff at Navy for their hospitality."
