BATH, Mich. — Competing as the first individual in Columbia men's golf history to qualify for NCAA Regionals, junior
Nathan Han is 3-over after the first two rounds of competition. Han is taking part in the Bath, Michigan Regional, which is being hosted at Eagle Eye Golf Club.
In Monday's first round, Han carded three bogeys and a birdie for an opening 2-over-par 73. He was able to hit a few more fairways in Tuesday's second round which presented him with more birdie opportunities. Han sank four on the day at the par-4 third, par-4 eighth, par-4 13th and par-5 18th.
Even par through 16 holes, Han suffered an unfortunate double bogey after his tee shot found the water at the island-green 17th. His birdie on 18 brought him in at 1-over on the day and 3-over for the tournament.
Wednesday's third and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET. Han will tee off at 10:42 in a threesome with Notre Dame's Nate Stevens and Purdue Fort Wayne's Burke Pitz.
The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to Nationals. Team and individual medalist titles will be decided at Nationals May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Arizona State and The Thunderbirds are the hosts for the 2023 championships.
