No. 12 Men’s Tennis Hosts No. 13 North Carolina In Home Opener Sunday

No. 12 Columbia will play its first dual of the spring Sunday
NEW YORK – The No. 12 Columbia men's tennis team will host No. 13 North Carolina for the home opener Sunday at the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
The Lions will play host to a top 15 matchup in their first dual match of the season after opening the spring slate at the Tar Heel Invitational hosted by North Carolina. Columbia had an impressive showing, winning 26 out of 33 singles and doubles matches played last weekend against North Carolina and Boise State.
Columbia will look to build on its success from matches played against the Tar Heels last weekend. The Lions captured two doubles wins over North Carolina with the duos of Nick Kotzen and Michael Zheng and Max Westphal and Theo Winegar earning victories.
The Lions posted wins in all six singles matches played against North Carolina. Henry Ruger, Nick Kotzen, Winegar, Ishaan Ravichander, Zheng and Alex Kotzen earned wins.
For the second year in a row, Columbia will play a ranked opponent in the home opener. The Lions knocked off No. 12 Northwestern, 4-0 last season to open the home slate. Sunday's match against North Carolina will be the first of eight matches this season against opponents currently ranked, included three matches as part of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships hosted by Columbia.
