The Lions dominated throughout, going a combined 6-0 in their home opener
NEW YORK — The Columbia fencing teams put together a dominant performance in front of its home crowd Friday night, with the men's and women's squads posting 3-0 marks against Stevens, NJIT and Johns Hopkins. The women remain undefeated at 10-0 in dual matches, and the men move to 9-1 after two weeks of competition.
Rachael Kim posted a 9-0 record in women's foil, Charlotte DePew led sabre with a 5-1 mark and Sumin Lee was also 5-1 in epee. Enoch Xiao (foil) and Luka Loncar each went 8-1 to pace the men's squad.
Zach Binder went 3-0 to highlight a 7-2 advantage in foil, while Nick Harvey posted a perfect mark in sabre to guide the men to a 17-10 victory over Stevens in the opening round. Women's foil swept, and epee went 8-1 against the Ducks as the Lions coasted to a 24-3 win.
In round two, women's foil and epee went through NJIT unblemished to roll to a 25-2 decision. Men's foil and epee also registered 9-0 wins as the men downed the Highlanders, 24-3.
Enoch Xiao and Ethan Xiao teamed up to go 6-0 in foil as the men finished the night with an 18-9 victory over Johns Hopkins. The women were victorious over Bluejays by the same count, thanks to 8-1 weapon wins from sabre and foil.
Columbia is back in action on January 14 for a dual meet against Princeton and Cornell, which the Tigers will host.
