Katie Wimmer Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year

Wimmer collects First Team honors; Solari Etcheberry receives Second Team nod; Yu gets Honorable Mention
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia field hockey goalkeeper Katie Wimmer was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and received First Team honors, while Jacinta Solari Etcheberry was tabbed to the Second Team and Lindsey Yu was an Honorable Mention.
Wimmer was Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week five times this season. The senior captain ranks second nationally in save percentage (.824) and fourth in saves per game (8.1). Both marks lead the Ivy League. Wimmer's 122 saves on the season also lead the conference and rank fifth in the country.
Solari Etcheberry played and started in all 15 games during the regular season, tallying seven points. The first-year midfielder recorded three goals, an assist, and a team-best 19 shots on goal.
Yu also played and started in all 15 games in 2024, leading the team with four goals. Her eight points are tied for the team lead and her 14 shots on goal rank second on the Lions. The senior captain also buried two game-winning goals (Sept. 13 vs. LIU and Sept. 20 at Cornell).
The Lions take on top seed and host Princeton in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals on Friday at 11:30 a.m. from Bedford Field.
