Scally Departs Columbia After Over 10 Years With The Lions
NEW YORK – Associate Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Sports Programs Matthew Scally has announced his departure from Columbia and has accepted the role of Director of Athletics at the College of Staten Island (CSI).
"Matt's presence and dedication to our sports programs and athletics department have been invaluable," said Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education Peter Pilling. "We cannot thank him enough for his exceptional service that has greatly impacted the lives of our student-athletes over the past 10 years."
During his tenure at Columbia, Scally acted as the sports program administrator for nearly half of the 31 sports at Columbia. Scally was a leader within the athletics department, including membership in Columbia's We Roar Together initiative for diversity, racial justice, equality, and inclusion, the Work Optimization sub-committee, and acting as a liaison with campus departments including admissions and financial aid.
"I would like to thank Peter Pilling and Jacqueline Blackett for the opportunity to contribute to the success of Columbia Athletics," remarked Scally. "The last decade has been an enriching and memorable experience thanks to all of the colleagues, coaches, and student-athletes that I've worked with. I am proud to have been a part of a department of excellence and contributing to the many team and individual successes. The standard of excellence exhibited by the student-athletes both athletically and academically has inspired me through the years and made lasting memories I will always treasure."
A national search for Scally's replacement has begun.
