Anne Cebula '20BC Qualifies for Paris Olympics

Cebula becomes the second former Lion to qualify for the 2024 Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Columbia fencing alumna Anne Cebula '20BC was selected to the United States Olympic Team in women's epee, USA Fencing announced today. Cebula joins Jackie Dubrovich '16CC (women's foil) on Team USA and will be making her first Olympic appearance when the fencing competition commences on July 27 at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Cebula, a product of Brooklyn, New York, is currently ranked No. 2 in the United States and No. 27 in the world in her discipline. She was a World Championship Epee Team member in 2023 and took gold in the individual North American Cups in October. She will compete in both the individual and team events in Paris.

In 2019, Cebula won the NCAA Individual Epee Championship, becoming the first Barnard College student-athlete to win an individual NCAA title in any sport. Additionally, she was the first women's epeeist to win the NCAA crown. Cebula earned All-America honors twice in her career and helped the Lions win an Ivy League Women's Championship and the NCAA Combined title in 2019.

Dubrovich, who's selection was announced on March 20, will make her second appearance after representing the red, white and blue in Tokyo in 2021. A native of Maplewood, New Jersey, Dubrovich is currently ranked No. 11 in the world and recently earned a bronze medal at the World Cup in Cairo. She also helped the U.S. Foil squad win gold to qualify in the team event in Paris. She placed 21st at the Tokyo games individually and fourth in the team event.

At Columbia, Dubrovich is one of only 13 fencers in program history to earn All-America honors four times and medal three times at the NCAA Championships. She was part of a pair of NCAA Championship teams and helped the women's squad earn Ivy League titles in 2015 and 2016. The four-time All-Ivy League recipient was named Columbia's Connie S. Maniatty Award in 2016, the athletics department's highest honor to current student-athletes.
