Six Columbia men, five women to represent the Lions
NEW YORK — 11 Columbia men's and women's squash players will represent the Lions this weekend at the 2024 College Squash Association (CSA) National Collegiate Individual Championships, and the 2024 U.S. intercollegiate Doubles Championship. The draws begin Friday morning from the Arlen Specter US Squash Center, and conclude with the championship matches on Sunday.
The CSA Individual Championships are comprised of ten 16-player draws (80 women and 80 men) which will take place over the course of three days starting Friday. The top draws – Ramsay Division for the women and Pool Division for the men – will feature 16 players each vying for the individual national championship of college squash and All-America honors. The winners of the four Holleran (B) and Molloy (B) Divisions for each gender will be recognized as Second Team All-America selections, along with the bottom six finishers from the Ramsay and Pool draws.
Five Columbia men will compete in four Molloy Cup Divisions. Rutvik Rau and Harold Castiaux will compete in the North Division bracket, Laszlo Godde is in the South Division, Shaurya Bawa is placed in the East Division and Paarth Ambani will compete in the West Division.
On the women's side, Amal Izhar and Erica McGillicuddy will represent Columbia in two separate Holleran Cup Divisions. Izhar will compete in the North Division bracket, while McGillicuddy will play in the South Division bracket.
The duo of Renee Chan and Advita Sharma will compete on the women's side in the Intercollegiate Doubles Championship. Tommy Soltanian and Eugenia Li will compete together in the mixed doubles division. Both duos received a first round bye and will compete in the Round of 16 on Saturday.
