NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 8 Columbia men's tennis team dominated to post a 6-1 road victory over No. 68 Yale on Saturday afternoon. The Lions are now 19-3 overall this season with a 5-1 mark in Ivy League action.
Columbia battled through doubles with wins in the No. 2 and 3 spots. The 66
th-ranked duo of
Nicolas Kotzen and
Max Westphal posted a 7-5 win against Vignesh Gogineni and Eric Li in the No. 2 doubles to clinch the point for the Lions.
Alex Kotzen and
Henry Ruger teamed up in the No. 3 spot to take a 6-2 win over Dylan Tsoi and Zhengqing Ji.
The Lions rolled through singles play, winning five of six singles matches. Yale earned its lone point of the match was Theo Dean defeated No. 91

No. 21 Zheng,
Nicolas Kotzen, Westphal,
Hugo Hashimoto and
Henry Ruger picked up singles victories to help lead Columbia to the 6-1 win. Kotzen, Westhphal, Hashimoto and Ruger all prevailed in two sets. Zheng battled through three sets to secure a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory against No. 105 Gogineni in the top singles match.
Columbia closes out the regular season on the road at Brown on Sunday afternoon. First serve in Providence, Rhode Island is set for 1 p.m.
