Heavyweight Rowing Wins 18th-Straight Collins Cup on Saturday

Lightweight wins five-of-six races; Women win 10 races
LEONIA, N.J. — All three Columbia rowing crews raced on Saturday at Overpeck Park, including the heavyweights coming away with an 18th-straight Collins Cup win over Rutgers.
The heavyweight crew now holds a 19-3 record over the Scarlet Knights since the debut of the race. The Collins Cup was a gift of Kevin and Helen Collins, both of whom are Rutgers graduates. Kevin Collins also holds a graduate degree from Columbia.

Third Varsity Eight

The women's crew raced with Navy, Marist, Bucknell, George Washington, UCONN, UMASS, URI, and Saint Joseph's. The Lions earned wins in 10 different races, including the morning 1V8, 2V8, 3V8, and 1V 4+ competitions. Columbia had a large split of 27.62 in front of Navy in the first 1V8 race.
In the afternoon, Columbia earned wins in the 1V8, 2V8, 3V8, 1V 4+, and 2V 4+. The full results from the Saint Joseph's Invitational can be found by clicking here.
The lightweight crew raced against Navy for the WIT Cup. The Lions won the 2V8 and 3V8 races but dropped the 1V8 race to the Midshipmen.
