Zheng, Winegar Set to Represent Columbia in NCAA Singles, Doubles Championships

Zheng will compete in the singles and doubles bracket, while Winegar will join Zheng in doubles
STILLWATER, Okla. – Michael Zheng and Theo Winegar will compete in the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships starting May 20 at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Zheng will compete in singles and will also team up with Winegar to compete in the doubles bracket.
Zheng earned a spot in the singles bracket as an at-large selection. Zheng posted a 26-9 overall record this season with a 16-5 mark during the spring dual season. He was 3-2 in Ivy League matches. Zheng has posted three straight wins against ranked opponents to help lead Columbia to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Zheng downed No. 18 Gavin Young from Michigan before defeating Arizona's No. 22 Colton Smith in the Sweet 16. Zheng cruised past Ohio State's No. 34 Justin Boulais in his most recent singles match.
Zheng and Winegar earned the Ivy League's automatic qualification into the doubles bracket. The duo went 4-1 in league play and finished the dual season with a 15-4 record. Zheng and Winegar are 18-7 overall this season.
All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
