
Three Lions Set to Compete at ITA Men’s All-American Championships

Michael Zheng, Hugo Hashimoto and Nicolas Kotzen will represent Columbia in Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. – Columbia men's tennis players Michael Zheng, Hugo Hashimoto and Nicolas Kotzen will represent the Lions at the ITA Men's All-American Championships starting this weekend at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The ITA Men's All-American Championships are set to start on Saturday, September 21 and last until Sunday, September 29. The championships will have a draw size of the following, Singles: Pre-Qualifying (128), Qualifying (64), Main Draw (64) and Doubles: Pre-Qualifying (32), Qualifying (32), Main Draw (32). From this, ten singles players (10) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, four doubles teams (4) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists).
Zheng earned a spot in the singles main draw bracket and will begin competition on Wednesday, September 25. Zheng also earned a doubles main draw spot with partner, Hashimoto. The duo will also play their first doubles match Wednesday.
Kotzen and Hashimoto will begin singles action on Monday, September 23 after being assigned to the qualifying draw.
