Wrestling Set for Armbar at the Armory Event

The Lions will compete in duals against Lock Haven, Maryland and Binghamton on Sunday
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Columbia wrestling team will kick off action in 2025 with a competitive quad meet against Lock Haven, Maryland and Binghamton as part of the Armbar at the Armory event.
The Lions will begin action Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against Lock Haven. Columbia will then compete against Maryland at 1:30 p.m. and Binghamton at 3:30 p.m. at the Impact Athletic Center.

Sunday's dual matches will be streamed live on FloWrestling and live results will be available through FloArena.
LAST TIME OUT
Columbia wrapped up 2024 with a 32-10 dual victory over Hofstra on December 21. The Lions claimed seven bout victories to improve to 2-2 in duals this season. The Lions capitalized on bonus points as Joe Curtis, Vincent Mueller and Kai Owen all earned wins via fall. Jack McGill earned a tech fall victory, while Nick Fine, Sulayman Bah and Richard Fedalen secured decision victories.

Lock Haven enters the weekend with a 2-4 mark in duals this season. Lock Haven most recently competed at the Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals on December 21 where the Bald Eagles were defeated by No. 13 Iowa State, No. 5 Ohio State and No. 25 North Carolina. Lock Haven owns dual wins over Bloomsburg and Wisconsin this season. Lock Haven has five ranked wrestlers: No. 14 at 133 Anthony Noto, No. 20 at 141 Wyatt Henson, No. 30 at 149 Lucas Kapusta, No. 29 at 174 Avery Bassett and No. 29 at 184 Colin Fegley. Columbia fell to Lock Haven, 21-19 in 2018 in the only dual match between the two teams.
Maryland is 4-3 overall in duals with wins against Kent State, Bucknell, American and Morgan State. The Terrapins were defeated by No. 18 Pittsburgh, Rider and No. 14 South Dakota State in three duals on December 20. The Maryland probable lineup includes five ranked wrestlers: No. 17 Braxton Brown (133), No. 28 Kal Miller (149), No. 6 Ethen Miller (157), No. 10 Jaxon Smith (184) and No. 13 Seth Nevils (285). Columbia defeated Maryland, 18-16 in the last meeting in 2023.
Binghamton is 1-4 overall in duals coming off three losses at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals on December 22. The Bearcats were defeated by No. 1 Penn State, No. 16 Missouri and No. 19 Little Rock in Nashville. Binghamton's lone dual win came against EIWA foe LIU on December 15. Binghamton has ranked wrestlers at 125 (No. 33 Carson Wagner), 174 (No. 14 Brevin Cassella), 184 (No. 24 Will Ebert) and 285 (No. 17 Cory Day). Columbia fell to Binghamton, 19-16 in the last dual meeting between the teams.
