Columbia Alumna Simmi Chan Shines On World Stages

Chan continues hot streak, winning consecutive titles in Canada and Boston.

NEW YORK  — Columbia women's squash alumna Simmi Chan (CC '25) clinched the titles at the NASH Cup 2025 and Tennis & Racquet Club Boston Open 2025 as an unseeded contestant.

Unseeded Chan capped off a phenomenal run at the London Sport & Fitness Copper event in Canada last month, recording her fourth consecutive upset to capture the title. The World No. 84 saved her best for last, toppling top seed Sabrina Sobhy in straight games, 11–9, 14–12, 11–9.

In a tightly contested final decided by the slimmest of margins, Chan saved four game balls in the second game before sealing the victory in just 31 minutes to complete a stunning week of performances.

Last week at the Tennis & Racquet Club Boston Open final, the Hong Kong native bested Caroline Fouts, sweeping her competition 11-8, 11-3, 11-8. Yuk upset the top seed Nadine Shahin in quarterfinals 3-1 (11-7, 11-13, 11-6, 11-5) before battling no. 4 Saran Nghiem for a final berth 3-1 (7-11, 11-3, 11-6, 12-10).

Chan is looking to extend her nine-match winning streak at The Hamilton Open Presented By Franklin & Marshall College 2025 on October 20 before heading to St James Expression Open 2025.
