No. 69 Columbia Women’s Tennis Sweeps Dartmouth on Senior Day

Lions end regular season with dominant win over Big Green
NEW YORK – The 69th-ranked Columbia women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a dominating 4-0 win over visiting Dartmouth on Sunday at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Tennis Center.
Prior to the start of the match, Columbia (13-9, 4-3 Ivy) honored its five seniors in a special pregame ceremony. Playing their final home matches were seniors Carolyn Brodsky, Fatima Keita, Clarine Lerby, Sophia Strugnell, and Winta Tewolde. With the loss, Dartmouth falls to 9-13 overall and 2-5 in Ivy League play.
Columbia captured the early momentum winning the doubles point with strong performances at the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Fatima Keita and Winta Tewolde made quick work of Dartmouth's duo of Elizabeth Fahrmeier and Elise Wong, winning 6-1. Emily Baek and Sophia Wang clinched the doubles point with an efficient 6-3 win over Caroline Lemcke and Brooke Hess.
In singles play, the bottom of the order made a substantial impact for the Lions. Tewolde scored the first point for Columbia, defeating Elizabeth Fahrmeier in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot.
Strugnell brought the Lions one point closer to the win with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Elise Wong. Emily Baek secured the match with a straight-sets win over Caroline Lemcke, winning 6-2, 6-3
Columbia will now turn its attention to the NCAA selection show on Monday, April 28 at 5 p.m. to see if the Lions will qualify for an at-large bid.
