Lightweight and Heavyweight Rowing Complete Day One of IRA National Championships

The Lions’ lightweight 2V8 and 4+ crews earn spots in A finals on Saturday
CAMDEN, N.J. — Columbia lightweight and heavyweight rowing raced five boats on day one at the IRA National Championships on Friday at Cooper River.
The Columbia lightweight 2V8 boat finished second in its heat behind Princeton at 5:53.020. The Lions qualified for the A final on Saturday at 10:10 a.m. The Lions' 1V8 lightweight crew placed fifth in its heat and will race in the B final on Saturday at 11:20 a.m.
The heavyweight 1V8 boat placed fourth in its heat at 5:43.940 and will race in the CD semifinal on Saturday at 1:28 p.m. The heavyweight 2V8 crew finished its heat at 5:55.790 and will compete in the CD semifinal on Saturday at 1:44 p.m.
The lightweight 4+ boat placed sixth in the time trials, which put the Lions in the AB semifinal. Columbia was then victorious in the AB semifinal with a time of 6:28.190, putting the Lions into the A final on Saturday at 2:50 p.m.
