NEW YORK – The Columbia University women's basketball program announced the addition of two staff members on Tuesday.
Kizmahr Grell has been hired as an assistant coach.
Selina Lim will serve as the team's general manager.
"I could not be more excited to add Kizmahr and Selina to our staff," head coach
Megan Griffith '07CC said. "Kizmahr adds tremendous value to our program with his long professional basketball career and his experience in both the development and administrative spaces. I've known Kiz for over 15 years and have been in trenches with him as we both trained for our professional careers. He is an extremely intentional worker who is dedicated to honing his craft. I know he will bring that same attention to detail and focused energy to our program.
"We are also thrilled to welcome our new general manager,
Selina Lim, to our Lion family! Selina will make an immediate impact on our organizational flow, daily operations and development strategies. She brings great experience from both the collegiate and conference levels, which will greatly benefit our program as we adapt to the changing college landscape. She is also a native New Yorker, so we're excited to bring her back home!"
A 2009 graduate of Dickinson College, Grell was a four-year letterwinner for the Red Devils. He was also a three-year captain, three-time team MVP, two-time First Team All-Conference selection and graduated as the sixth-leading scorer in program history. Grell's professional basketball playing career spanned from 2009-12 and 2015-21. It included two stops in the Netherlands, one in France and two in Venezuela. During his time in Amsterdam, he competed in European Leagues in Greece, Spain, Germany and Hungary. Outside of his playing career, Grell was a coach and leadership trainer for 11 years at Sports Challenge Leadership Academy. He also has experience recruiting to New York City as an admissions associate at Boys Hope Girls Hope in Brooklyn. Most recently, Grell was the senior manager of athletics at Dream Charter School, holding that position since 2021.
Lim competed on the women's basketball team at Hunter College from 2015-19. She went on to earn a master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth while also serving as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball team. The native New Yorker spent the summer of 2023 as a camps and recruiting assistant for Columbia summer camps and spent the 2023-24 season as a basketball operations assistant at the BIG EAST. In that role, she assisted with all logistical aspects of the BIG EAST men's and women's basketball tournaments.
