Women's basketball Headed to 2025 Cancun Challenge

The Lions will join Kansas State, North Carolina and South Dakota State in the Mayan portion of the event

FORT COLLINS, Colo. —  Columbia women's basketball is headed to Mexico for the 2025 Cancun Challenge, which takes place Thanksgiving Week at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. Joining the Lions in the four-team Mayan Tournament are Kansas State, North Carolina and South Dakota State. All four programs are coming off NCAA Tournament appearances.

The event will take place from November 27 to 29 and feature a round-robin format, consisting of three games. Opening round matchups have not yet been announced.

Last season, Columbia (24-7, 13-1) won its first outright Ivy League Regular Season Championship, earned a second straight at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and took down Washington in the First Four, 63-60, for the program's first March Madness win. Along the way, the Lions defeated Atlantic Sun champion FGCU, MAC champion Ball State and earned a season sweep against Princeton.
