Lightweight Rowing Comes Up Short to Dartmouth in Subin Cup

Columbia’s Varsity Four picked up a win on Saturday
FAIRLEE, Vt. — No. 10 Columbia lightweight rowing raced against No. 8 Dartmouth on Saturday morning in the Subin Cup on Lake Morey.
The Lions' 4V+ defeated the Big Green in the first race of the day. Columbia posted a time of 6:47.7 to Dartmouth's 6:59.8. In the 1V8 race for the Subin Cup, Dartmouth earned the victory at 5:47.1 with Columbia clocking in at 5:52.6. The Big Green retained the Subin Cup for the third straight year. The crews raced through conditions of light quartering tailwind between 0-2 mph, with flat water and light rain.
In 1987, the Subin Cup was established in honor of D. William Subin, Dartmouth '63, Columbia Law '66. Subin coxed the heavyweight varsity at Dartmouth and coached lightweights while studying law at Columbia.
