Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes Fourth at Ivy League Championships

Isaac Beers wins two silver medals and sets multiple program records
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Columbia men's swimming and diving team finished in fourth place with 901.5 points at the 2026 Ivy League Championships being held at DeNunzio Pool on the campus of Princeton University.
After all 21 events, Princeton won the team championship with 1,474 points. Yale finished in second place with 1,274.5 points. Harvard took third, totaling 1,173.5 points.
DAY ONE
The Ivy League Championships began with the 200 medley and the 800 free relay.
The Lions' 200 medley relay squad got things started with an impressive third place finish. The team of Isaac Beers, Joshua Corn, Brian Lee, and Zion James clocked 1:25.33 to win the bronze medal.
The 800 free relay team finished, and set a new program record in the process. The squad of Gian Santos, Derek Hitchens, Kyle Won, and Adam Wu touched the wall with a Columbia record of 6:22.02.

DAY TWO
Day two was another solid day for the Lions.
James made more Columbia history, breaking the program record in the 50 free with a time of 19.27 in the prelims. He went on to finish fourth in the finals at 19.31. Samuel Eckert took seventh in the same event, finishing at 19.59.
Zach Vasser also had a podium finish, placing eighth in the 500 free with a time of 4:20.28. Stephen Zhukov won the B finals at 4:19.52.
To close out the day, the 200 free relay squad made more program history. The team of James, Wu, Beers, and Eckert finished fourth with a record time of 1:17.41.

DAY THREE
The Lions had another strong day of swims on day three.
Isaac Beers had the Lions' top performance of the weekend, winning a silver medal in the 100 back with a time of 45.89. He also set a program record earlier in the day in prelims at 45.74.
Vasser (8:54.59) and Zhukov (8:55.62) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1000 free.
Gian Santos took fourth in the 400 IM touching the wall at 3:46.64.
Wu finished on the podium in the 200 free, as did Corn in the 200 breast.
To close out the day, the 400 medley relay squad won bronze with a time of 3:07.92. The team consisted of Beers, Corn, Wu, and James.

DAY FOUR
The Lions finished Ivies on a high note.
Beers continued to dominate, winning another silver medal in the 200 back with another program record time of 1:40.58.
Corn won bronze in the 200 breast, breaking the program record with a time of 1:52.34. Santos took eighth at 1:57.82.
Zhukov (14:57.43) and Vasser (15:00.70) had another strong distance performance, finishing fourth and seventh, respectively, in the 1650 free.
James finished fifth in the 100 free with a time of 42.96.
Wu finished on the podium in the 200 free, as did Corn in the 200 breast.
The Lions ended the weekend with a little bit of history. The 400 free relay team consisting of James, Eckert, Hitchens, and Wu took fourth and set a new program record at 2:51.94. In the process, James also set a new 100 free record of 42.63.

DIVING
Joseph Nicol impressed on the 3m boards, making the A Finals and finishing eighth with a score of 287.55. Will Cooley made the B finals while Derek Hong made his first C Finals.
On the 1m boards, Nicol had Columbia's top finish with a score of 298.75 to take 10th.
"Spectacular performance from Joe in his final meet as an Ivy League diver," Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. "Will made his third final and continued his impressive career, while Derek scored his first points at Ivies and I could not be prouder of these three."
ON DECK
All of the Lions' qualified divers will begin preparations for the NCAA Zone Diving competition on March 9.
