
No. 33 Men’s Tennis Takes Down Bryant

Lions sweep Bulldogs to get back into the win column.
NEW YORK – The 33rd-ranked Columbia men's tennis team made quick work of visiting Bryant, defeating the Bulldogs 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.
With the win, Columbia improves to 10-6 on the year and 7-2 at home.
The Lions seized the momentum early, securing the doubles point by quickly dispatching the Bulldogs. Columbia's 3-seed pairing of Thanaphat Boosarawongse and Abhishek Thorat cruised to a 6-0 victory over Manveer Boparai and Myles Peterson. Meanwhile, the number two tandem of Sachin Palta and Andrew Ena also soundly defeated Bryant's duo of Forbes Hollingsworth and Will Pellegrini 6-2.
On court one, the Lions' duo of Nicolas Kotzen and Michael Zheng defeated Daniel Baquero and Miguel Angel Machado 6-3 to claim all three matches and the doubles point for Columbia.
In singles play, the Lions clinched the match with a series of straight-set victories. No. 64 Sachin Palta gave the Lions a 2-0 lead when he soundly defeated Forbes Hollingsworth 6-0, 6-0. Thanaphat Boosarawongse followed suit in the three spot with a dominating 6-0, 6-2 performance over Manveer Boparai.
No. 8 Michael Zheng clinched the match with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 win over Miguel Angel Machado, giving the Lions a 4-0 overall victory.
No. 31 Nicolas Kotzen, Abhishek Thorat, and Jung Hee You all won their respective matches in straight sets to give Columbia a 7-0 overall victory. Kotzen defeated Will Pellegrini 6-3, 6-2 in the two-seed. Thorat soundly beat Daniel Baquero 6-2, 6-0 in the five-spot. And you closed out the match by besting Myles Peterson 6-4, 6-2 in the six seed.
Columbia returns to action on April 4th when they travel to take on Brown to open Ivy League conference play.
