Women’s Tennis Posts Strong Results at Columbia Invitational

Columbia dominates Sunday action to close out the invitational
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's tennis team made its 2026-27 home debut over the weekend hosting Stony Brook, Princeton, and Hofstra for the Columbia Invitational at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center. The Lions collected multiple singles and doubles victories across the three days of competition.
Columbia opened the invitational against Stony Brook, winning all four doubles matches. Gayathri Krishnan and Sabrina Lin earned a 6-1 victory, while Emily Baek and Margaret Hui posted a 6-2 win. Amber Yin and Elena Zhao won 6-3, and Michelle Li and Isabelle Oak closed out doubles with a 6-2 victory.
The Lions also won seven of eight singles matches against Stony Brook. Li defeated Elena Lobo-Corral 6-4, 7-5, while Baek earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mia Palladino. Oak went three sets to defeat Ladina Bruhin, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Hui, Lin, Zhao and Kylie Nguyen also earned straight-set victories. Yin fell to Stony Brook's Paisha Douglas, 6-1, 6-3.
Against Princeton on Day 2, Columbia added two doubles victories. Yin and Kylie Nguyen defeated Maren Urata and Bella Chhiv, 6-2, while Baek and Zhao posted a 6-2 win over Anna Maria Fedotova and Berklie Simmering.
Nguyen earned a three-set singles victory over Chhiv, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Li also went three sets, defeating Simmering, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Lin recorded Columbia's other singles win, defeating Urata, 6-1, 7-5. Princeton won the other three singles matches.
Columbia closed the invitational against Hofstra, sweeping all three doubles matches. Krishnan and Lin won 6-1, Kenzie Nguyen and Yin posted a 6-0 victory, and Baek and Zhao finished with a 6-2 win.
The Lions also went unbeaten in singles against Hofstra. Krishnan defeated Marcella Roversi, 6-1, 6-3, while Baek and Lin each won in straight sets. Yin defeated Sheryl Halim, 6-0, 6-1, and Hui and Oak also earned straight-set victories.
Columbia returns to action on Friday, October 2, for the first day of the Fordham Four Invite at the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts in the Bronx, N.Y.
