NEW YORK, N.Y. - Columbia opened up the second half with a 21-6 run over the span of just under 10 minutes en route to a 64-45 win over Dartmouth. With the win, Columbia improves to 11-5, 2-1 Ivy, while Dartmouth drops to 4-12, 1-2 Ivy.

Columbia trailed by as many as ten, 24-14, in the first half, but the Lions closed out the period on an 8-2 run to close the gap, 26-22 at the break. The Lions held the Big Green scoreless for over five minutes.

First-year Mack Montgomery (Clayton, N.C.) opened the second period with a steal and a layup, and Matt Preston (Wantagh, N.Y.) grabbed a defensive rebound on the ensuing play and added a layup of his own to tie the game at 26-26 with 18:40 remaining. Gerard Barrett (Newark, N.J.) was fouled just moments later and his two free throws gave Columbia the lead with 18:07 and the Lions did not trail again.

Lions went on a 21-7 run over the next 10 minutes to seal the victory.

Preston outscored any two Big Green players with 18 points and six rebounds, while Montgomery totaled 13 points and five rebounds in the win. Barrett finished with nine and five for his career-best in an Ivy League contest, Dragutin Kravic (Zrenjanin, Serbia) added nine points, while first-year point-guard Brett Loscalzo (Ridgefield, Conn.) added three points, four assists and a block in 31 minutes of action.

David Gardner led the Big Green with eight points, while Mike Lang and Michael McLaren added seven each in the loss.

Columbia out-rebounded Dartmouth 38-23 and out-shot the Big Green 40 percent to 33 percent.

Columbia returns to action on Sunday when they host Harvard in a 2 p.m. match up.
