NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Quinnipiac scored four unanswered goals over a period of 14 minutes from late in the first half until early in the second to defeat Columbia, 11-8 at Wien Stadium. The loss ended a nine-game win streak vs. non-conference opponents for the Lions, dating back to March 15, 2004.

Columbia held a 3-2 lead just over 20 minutes into the contest as Elyse Pultz scored the second of her game-high four goals on a free position shot. The Bobcats answered with a goal at 21:42, and would score the first three goals of the second half for a 6-3 lead as the Lions were held scoreless for 14:08.

The Lions would get no closer than two goals the rest of the way. With the score 8-4, Pultz scored twice in a 40-second stretch at 45:04 and 45:44 to make the score 8-6. However, the Bobcats dominated draw controls -- and with them, possession -- in the middle stretch of the second half.

Christy Smallman had three goals and two assists to lead Quinnipiac (2-5). Jennifer Larson also had three goals.

For the Lions (4-3), Katie Warner scored three times, including twice in the game's final nine minutes. Pultz had a team-high three ground balls and Carrie Anderer had four draw controls.

The Lions return to Ivy League play on Saturday, April 2 vs. 13th-ranked Penn at Wien Stadium at 7 p.m.
