FAIRFIELD, CONN. - The Lions lost to Fairfield and Albany in the final day of the Fairfield Tournament, finishing the tournament 0-3. First-year Ashley Kim was named to the All-Tournament team. Columbia is now 2-7 on the season.
In the first match of the day, the Lions lost to host team Fairfield 3-0. Columbia kept the first game close, but couldn't pull out the win, losing 31-29. The Stags took the next two games 30-20, 30-22.
Sophomore duo Natalie Gerling and Cassie Ligh led the Lions on offense with 18 and 11 kills, respectively. Setter Blakely Low led the team with 15 digs while having 28 assists.
In the second match, Columbia faced a strong Albany team, losing 3-0. The Great Danes took the first game 30-15. The Lions tried to recover in the second game, but could not over come Albany, losing 30-28. The Great Danes took the last game 30-24 to finish the match.
Junior Nikki Learned led the team in kills with nine while Kim led the team in digs with 10. Kim was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
The Lions are back in action on Tuesday, September 27th as they travel to Hofstra. The match will start at 5 p.m.
