NEW YORK, N.Y. - Junior Nikki Learned led the way for the Lions with eight kills in the team's 3-0 loss to Dartmouth. Columbia is now 5-16 overall, 3-7 in the Ivies.
In the first game, Dartmouth won the first point and never looked back, taking the game 30-23. The second game remained close with Dartmouth having a slight 20-18 lead, but the Big Green's Sarah Nadler served the next five points to gain a 25-18 lead. The Lions couldn't recover, losing 30-22. The third game started off with another service run by Nadler when she took Dartmouth to an 11-1 lead. Columbia cut the lead to four points (15-11) but could not get any closer as the Big Green won the game 30-21.
Along with her eight kills, Learned had two digs. On defense, first-year Ashley Kim had a match-high 17 digs while sophomore Natalie Gerling had 16 digs.
The Lions play in their final home match of the season tomorrow, Saturday, November 5th against Harvard. The match starts at 4 p.m. and will include a special presentation to senior Lucy Reynales.
