Final Stats

HANOVER, N.H. - Gaining an early 11 point lead, Dartmouth was able to hold off Columbia and win by a final score 59-49. Senior Edytte Key led the Lions scoring effort with a season-high 12 points. The Lions are now 9-7, 2-1 Ivy while the Big Green improved to 6-8, 2-0 Ivy.

Both teams started out slow in the first half, but with the score knotted at two, the Big Green's Angie Soriaga nailed two three pointers in a row to give Dartmouth a six point lead. The Big Green increased the score to 10-2 until CU's Key put in a layup, bringing the lead back down to six. But Dartmouth answered with two more three pointers, this time by Ashley Talyor, giving the Big Green a 12-point advantage. Nicole Lesko scored the next five points for the Lions to try and cut into the lead, but Dartmouth put in three baskets of their own, making the score 22-11. By the end of the first half, Columbia was able to decrease the Dartmouth lead, heading into the locker rooms with the score 27-19.

In the second half, the Big Green was able to increase its lead by as many as 26 points. But during the last five and a half minutes of the game, the Lions cut into the Dartmouth lead. Going on a 20-4 run, made the final score 59-49.

Key led the Lions with a season-high 12 points while Dartmouth's Taylor led all scorers with 15 points. The Big Green's Sydney Scott led all players with 14 rebounds.

The Lions take on Harvard tomorrow, January 29th in Cambridge, Mass. Game time is 6 p.m.
