Final Stats

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Lions held Yale to 13 points and gained a 16 point lead in the first half and held off the Bulldogs in the second to win by a final score of 68-58. Adia Revell led all scorers with 18 and tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 10 boards. Scoring a double-double along with Revell was fellow senior Edytte Key, who had 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Columbia gained an early four point lead with a three pointer from Megan Griffith and then Sue Altman increased the lead with two made free throws, making the score 10-5. With a layup from Key and a three pointer by guard Susan Kern, the Lions took a 15-5 lead and the score stayed the same until 7:35, when Yale's Sara Zoubek laid in a free throw. The Lions then went on an eight to two run, increasing CU's lead to 23-8 with 4:34 left in the first. Revell scored four more points, all on free throws and Key put back another basket to end the Lions scoring for the first half. Yale's Erica Davis put in two baskets in the last minute of the game to make the half time score 29-13, in Columbia's favor.

Yale went over 16 minutes without scoring a field goal in the first half, shooting only 16.7 percent from the field. Key and Revell led all players at the break with eight points and Key also led in rebounds, with seven.

To start the second half, Yale's Chinenye Okafor scored seven quick points to cut Columbia's lead to 13 points. But a three point play by Key and a mid-range jumper by Sue Altman brought the Lions lead to 37-20. The Lions led Yale by as many as 24 points and held off a late Bulldog surge to win. With 4:23 left in the game, Yale scored 13 straight points, cutting down the Lions lead 69-49. CU was able to stop the Bulldog comeback with help from two free throws from both Griffith and Revell and a layup and a free throw from Altman.

Revell led all scorers with 18 points and scored her sixth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. Joining Revell with double-double was senior center Edytte Key, who matched a season-high with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double digits for the Lions was Nicole Lesko, who had 12 points and was a perfect five-for-five from the charity stripe.

The Lions travel to Providence, R.I. to play Brown tomorrow, February 5th at 7 p.m.
