A 2006 Columbia graduate, Maiya Chard-Yaron returns as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2007 season.
Chard-Yaron was a four-year starter under head coach Kayla Noonan. She holds the all-time record at Columbia in runs scored and is among the career leaders in hits, total bases, triples and appearances and innings pitched.
"I am thrilled that Maiya has found room for softball in her hectic schedule," Noonan said. "Her experience at Columbia, in the Ivy League, and internationally will be a tremendous resource for our young team."
After seeing limited time as a pitcher in her first three seasons, Chard-Yaron threw the first seven-inning no-hitter in Columbia history on April 2, 2006 against Farifield in a 3-0 victory, completing a doubleheader sweep.
A first team All-Ivy League selection in 2006, Chard-Yaron has international playing experience with the Isreali national team, having competed at the Maccabiah Games and the European Championships in softball.
Chard-Yaron currently heads the Varsity C Softball Committee at Columbia and is enrolled in the Jewish Theological Seminary near the Columbia campus.
