Todd Weisse serves as an Assistant Coach for Columbia University Cross Country and Track & Field. Entering his 17th year with the program in 2026–27, Weisse brings extensive technical expertise, program operations experience and recruiting support to the Lions across multiple event areas.

AT COLUMBIA
Weisse joined Columbia in November 2009, initially assisting the distance and middle-distance event groups. In the fall of 2011, he assumed Director of Operations duties, coordinating team travel and competition logistics for the cross country and track & field programs.
Over his tenure, Weisse transitioned into his current Assistant Coach role, providing operational and recruiting support while assisting the technical development of Columbia’s cross country, middle-distance, sprint, hurdle and relay athletes. This current event-group remit remains subject to Coach Weisse’s final confirmation.
As a long-serving member of Columbia’s distance and cross country staff, Weisse has supported a program that captured four Ivy League cross country team championships: the men’s title in 2015 and women’s titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
COACHING CAREER & PROGRAM SERVICE
Beyond Morningside Heights, Weisse has been a longstanding figure in the New York City running community. He founded the Williamsburg Track Club in 2009 and continues to serve as its head coach, building a developmental environment centered on sound mechanics and consistent execution.
Weisse also served as head coach of the New York Flyers marathon training group from 2012 to 2014, designing the training structure for more than 100 distance runners. His prior coaching and consulting work included St. Bernard’s School.
CERTIFICATIONS & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Weisse holds an IAAF Academy Diploma at the Level V Elite Coach designation in sprints and hurdles, earned in 2012, as well as a USATF Level 3 certification in sprints and hurdles. His technical education also includes a USTFCCCA Specialty Coach Certification in sprints, hurdles and relays (2008) and a USATF Level 2 Youth Coaching certification (2009).
His continuing professional development includes a USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning certification (2021), USATF Cross Country Specialist certifications (2020 and 2023), and a USATF Marathon Specialist Coach certification (2024). He also holds Reflexive Performance Reset Level One certification and current U.S. Center for SafeSport training.
COACHING IDENTITY
Weisse’s coaching approach emphasizes structural mechanics, posture, force application and technical efficiency as foundations for long-term athletic development. This coaching-identity language remains subject to Coach Weisse’s approval. Education and competitive-background details will be added only after coach confirmation.
