A hidden gem in Haworth, N.J. just 15 miles from Columbia's campus, the 18-hole private golf course at Haworth Country Club offers a picturesque 175-acre property featuring bent-grass greens, tees and fairways which provide some of the best conditioned playing surfaces in the Northeast. The course officially opened in 1965 but was redesigned by the legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 2000. The course length is up to 7,000 yards and the modern design features classic traditional elements that provide a memorable round. Since then, Haworth has been selected to host several US Open & MET Open qualifying rounds in recent years.

In May 2017, the Columbia Golf Program added Haworth Country Club as one of its home facilities. Haworth allows the Columbia men's and women's golf programs an additional practice venue as well as the opportunity to host annual collegiate tournaments, an alumni, friends and family tournament, along with golf camps.

Originating in 1904, the golf course at Metropolis Country Club was designed originally by Herbert Strong, and subsequently A.W. Tillinghast, who designed several other holes. The course was enhanced by Joe Finger and then updated and renovated in 1994 by Ken Dye. In 2013 the club hired architect Ron Forse to embark on a total restoration/renovation project. Under Ron's guidance, along with course superintendent David McCaffrey, the project was completed in the spring of 2015. The result of which has elevated the golfing experience at Metropolis to the finest in the Metropolitan area.

From the championship tees it is a challenging 6,827 yard Par 70 golf course featuring many doglegs, uneven lies, and undulating greens, all of which test every aspect of the best player’s shot-making ability. Metropolis is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the Metropolitan Area, and our signature sixth hole, has been ranked by many golf publications as one of the 18 best holes in the Metropolitan Area and among the 500 best holes in the world. Over the years Metropolis' reputation as a championship course and our strong support of local Golf Associations has allowed the club to host every major Metropolitan Area Professional and Amateur Championship.

In 2013 the club hired golf course architect Ron Forse to oversee a total restoration/renovation project. The project was divided into two phases, with the first phase being completed in the Spring of 2014, and phase two was completed in the Spring of 2015. All green surrounds and bunkers were replaced along with many other features which had been lost over the years.

Over the past 8 years the course has undergone an extensive renovation as part of an ongoing masterplan. Forse Design has been integral in restoring the course back to its original design. This has included the renovation and reinstatement of over 100 bunkers, putting green enlargement and rebuilding, a full tee box renovation and the implementation of over thirty acres of native grass fescue.

In addition to the on course improvements, the practice areas have also been enhanced. In the Spring of 2016, we debuted our new practice tee to the membership. The newly designed and expanded tee will allow members and guests alike to utilize the grass hitting surface throughout the entire season. 2021 will see the opening of a new 45,000 sqft short game facility, which includes two new greens, large practice bunkers and substantial practice space. These additions, along with the exceptional conditions and layout found on the course, truly offer all that you need to enhance your game.
