The opening set was wild. The two sides battled to 14 ties and nine lead changes. Princeton briefly took the lead 19-18, but the Lions responded with a key run. A Maynulet kill tied the score, and a block by Nordlicht and Avery Jones put Columbia in front. Maynulet followed with a service ace, and Cornea added a kill as the Lions built a 22-19 advantage. Columbia closed out the set, 25-21, on a Cornea kill.
The second set was closely contested throughout. Princeton held a 7-3 lead early before Columbia chipped away. Trailing 12-10, the Lions put together four consecutive points, highlighted by a Nordlicht kill, a block from Jones and Nordlicht, and a Maynulet service ace to take a 14-12 lead. The teams traded points down the stretch to reach a 22-22 tie. Columbia finished with three straight points, including a block by Cornea and Charlotte Gravlee and a Gravlee kill, to secure the 25-22 win.
Columbia carried the momentum into the third set, opening with seven consecutive points. Maynulet had two kills during the stretch, while Nordlicht added a kill and teamed with Jones for a block. Princeton cut into the lead, but the Lions maintained control, with kills from Cornea and Nordlicht extending the advantage to 17-10. The Tigers pulled within four at 20-16, but Columbia closed the match with five of the final six points. Nordlicht and Maynulet teamed for a block on match point to seal the 25-17 set victory.
Also contributing to the Lions' win was opposite Dahlia Robers, who had six kills on 19 swings. Avery Jones tallied six total blocks. Clara Yu had 16 assists and nine digs. Madison Hseih had two of the Lions' seven service aces.
Columbia returns to action next Friday when it hosts Brown. First serve between the Lions and Bears is scheduled for 7 p.m.
