Volleyball Finishes Sacramento State Invitational 0-3

The Lions faced Sacramento State in their first match, losing 3-0. Columbia tried to rally in the first game, but lost 31-29. The Hornets did not relinquish their lead, winning the next two games 30-19 and 30-22.
Sophomore Natalie Gerling recorded a match-high 14 kills in the match and notched her first double-double of the season with 15 digs. Fellow sophomore Cassie Ligh had a team-high 17 digs on defense.
Against Nevada later in the day, the Lions could not get into a rhythm, losing three games to the Wolfpack 30-13, 30-22 and 30-22. Gerling led the team in kills for the second time with 10 and Ligh and first-year Ashley Kim led the team on defense with five digs apiece.
Columbia faces Tulsa at the Loyola Chicago Tournament on Friday, September 16th at 6 p.m. in Chicago, Ill.
