NEW YORK, N.Y. - Field hockey co-captain Diana Day (CC-Strasburg, Pa.) was named Ivy League Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending 9/5, as announced by conference officials Wednesday morning. This is the first weekly conference award for the senior forward.
Day scored two goals, including the game-winner in the Lions' season-opening 3-2 win against Monmouth on Saturday. Day's second goal, a behind-the-back-redirect with just seven minutes remaining to play, marked the first game-winning goal of her career. The win also gave the Lions their first season-opening win in regulation in the past six years. It was also the Lions first comeback win since at least 2002.
The Lions are 1-1 on the season and they return to action on Saturday, September 10 when they travel to Ithaca for the Ivy League opener vs. Cornell.
