Condello, who lives in Longwood, Fla., didn't have to go far for his qualifying event, held at the Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla. His 140 score tied for second in the qualifying group, three shots off the 137 of medalist Ben Leong.
They will converge on Chaska, Minn., August 21-27 for the U.S. Amateur Open at the famed Hazeltine National.
Condello has been a standout since he first set foot on Morningside Heights and finished second in his initial collegiate event. He has twice been All-Ivy League, after finishing fourth at the 2005 Ivy League Championships and second at the 2006 Championships.
His brilliant 217 in the 2006 Ivy Championships, despite steady rain and high winds, led Columbia to second place in the team championship, just one shot behind Princeton.
