Thirteen teams set to compete in this year’s event
NEW YORK — The Columbia Spring Invitational is on tap for the men's golf team on Monday. The one-day, 36-hole event will take place at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
This year's competition will feature 13 teams and an estimated 70+ individual competitors. Joining the Lions will be Maryland, Lafayette, Le Moyne, Drexel, Siena, Saint Joseph's, Fordham, Saint Francis, Manhattan, Bryant, Merrimack and Penn.
Columbia's starting lineup will feature first year Alejandro Formosa, senior George Rubelsky, first year Neil Kulkarni, senior Darren Pang and first year Sam Johnson. Sophomore Ryan Keyes will compete as an individual.
Rubelsky leads this year's team with a 73.33 stroke average across seven tournaments. He owns five top-25 finishes, three top 10s and a season-best tie for fourth at the Columbia Autumn Invitational. He carded rounds of 66, 72 and 69 for a 6-under-par 207. Pang and Formosa have identical 74.57 stroke averages, followed closely behind by Kulkarni at 74.62.
The Columbia Spring Invitational is the third of four events the Lions host this academic year. They hosted the inaugural Metropolis Intercollegiate, Sept. 8-9, at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, New York. They then hosted their annual Autumn Invitational at Lake Placid Club in late September. Columbia will host the single-day Roar-EE Invitational for a fourth straight season on April 18 at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York.
Live results for this weekend will be available on the Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
