The September 2006 issue of Golf Digest recently ranked the top 50 schools in the nation for a combination of academic and golf excellence. Both Columbia teams were ranked in the top 15 overall.
Golf Digest placed the women's program, established in 2003, tenth overall, while the men's program was ranked 13th in the nation.
Team scoring average, player growth, academics, climate and facilities were among the factors considered for the ranking.
Coming off a successful 2005-06 season in which Columbia captured three tournament victories, both the men and women's teams will tee off on the weekend of Sept. 15-17 to begin the 2006-07 season.
The women will look to defend their team title at the Dartmouth Invitational, beginning Sept. 16, while the men also look to defend their own team championship at the Rutgers Invitational, beginning Sept. 15.
