NEW YORK -- On Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m., the 14-game tournament begins for Columbia on the first weekend of a home-and-home doubleheader with Cornell over the next seven days.
The Lions come into the game playing arguably their basketball of the season so far. After a 16-point road win at NJIT on January 3, Columbia has had 16 days to prepare for the Big Red.
Cornell is also coming off a road win vs. NJIT in its last time out. NJIT led 20-6 seven minutes into the game but Cornell stormed back to take a six-point halftime lead and captured a 75-60 win on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Cornell is led by junior forward Jeomi Maduka, who averages 13.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
The game can be heard live from Ithaca, N.Y. on gocolumbialions.com with Jerry Recco and Pete McHugh calling the action, beginning at 12:55 p.m.
