The fact that I was already ticked off by something else was escalated when they came out dragging. So after stretch we had a little modified Oklahoma drill. That seemed to get some peoples' attention. I usually hold starters from this drill. Today I only picked starters. When it was over they seemed to have some enthusiasm.
Before each drill when the O went against the D, we reminded them that it was not just practice, it was a competition.
The offense took the day, played with enthusiasm, and made plays. After a brief prayer meeting with the first defense they began to string a few good series of plays together and salvage something from practice. Before they left for lunch I reminded them that practice was over and they have to do it again tonight, that is the real challenge, can you string good ones together? Can you stop the bleeding and regroup?
There is a lady named Annie that comes to feed our kids everyday. The only thing she has ever asked for was to have the kids sing the fight song for her. So after conditioning this morning we drug her away from the grill and sang for her.
