NEW YORK -- Columbia University women's basketball player Judie Lomax has been named to the 2008-09 All-Met Second Team by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association, as it was announced on Tuesday.
The nation's leading rebounder, Lomax led the Lions to a program-record 13 victories in 2008-09, averaging 14.1 points and 14.3 rebounds per game in 28 games. The All-Ivy League First Team selection recorded 21 double-doubles on the year, and had a streak of 10 consecutive games with double-figure points and rebounds.
Lomax collected 401 rebounds over the course of the season, becoming the first player in school history to eclipse the 400-mark and just the third player in Ivy League history (Dartmouth's Gail Koziara in 1979-80 and 1980-81). Her total not only set the single-season school record, but also vaulted her into 17th place on the all-time career rebounding list in just one season.
For her efforts, Lomax was also named a regional finalist for the State Farm WBCA Coaches' All-America team and was an Academic All-Ivy representative.
