NEW YORK - With Valentine's Day just around the corner, a number of Columbia student-athletes put their busy schedules on hold to get in the spirit of giving back.
On Thursday, February 11, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sponsored the second annual Valentine's Day Card-Writing Party. Representatives from each team got to chance to show off their creative arts and crafts skills in the Lou Gehrig Lounge. The Lions created festive cards that will be distributed to pediatric patients at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, an academic affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
"We were thrilled with the student-athlete participation today as over 60 student-athletes turned out to support this SAAC initiative," said Denise Cudden, the Director of Compliance at Columbia. "Student-athletes took time away from classes, midterms, and practice to support such a worthy cause. We were able to compile over 100 cards that we will share with the pediatric patients at St. Luke's Hospital."
