
Merber Advances to NCAA National Championship Final

NEW YORK – Sophomore Kyle Merber advanced to his first-ever NCAA National Championship final Thursday, in the men's 1500m run in Eugene, Ore.
Merber, who had advanced to the national semifinals of the event by winning his quarterfinal heat at the NCAA regional meet, came in fifth in the first heat Thursday, clinching an automatic spot in the finals.
Merber finished in 3:45.91, in a pack with senior athletes from Oregon and California. In the process, he bested competitors from Minnesota, Florida State, Providence and Ivy League rival Princeton.
The final of the men's 1500m run will take place Saturday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m. First-year Caroline McDonough will also compete for the Lions this weekend, as she takes part in the finals of the women's 5000m run Friday, June 11 at 6:40 pm.
