NEW YORK -- Wake up early Wednesday morning to catch Columbia track standout Kyle Merber on FOX 5's "Good Day New York." Merber will be interviewed at approximately 8:40 a.m. to discuss his participation in this Saturday's prestigious Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games.
Merber will be featured during the 8:40 a.m. segment when he is interviewd by Dr. Sander and Mary Wittenberg. The Dr. Sander part will begin at 7:50 a.m.
The Millrose Games is one of the most prestigious indoor track events in the nation. After being held in Madison Square Garden from 1914-2011, the Millrose Games moves to The Armory this year.
The Wanamaker Mile is the featured event of the Millrose Games and Merber will be taking on some of the best professional and collegiate runners in the nation. One of Merber's competitors in the race will be former Columbia standout Liam Boylan-Pett (2004-08).
Merber is more than qualified for this race as he owns the Columbia and Ivy League indoor mile record time of 3:58.52, which he set back in 2010 at the Columbia Last Chance Meet. He set that mark in The Armory, making it only fitting that he will take part in the Wanamaker Mile's debut at the same venue.
Merber, who garnered USTFCCCA All-Region honors and All-Ivy League first team honors for this past cross country season, has had a remarkable comeback from a foot injury that sidelined him from competing last year. He is coming off an outstanding cross country season in which he led the Columbia men's team to its first ever NCAA Championships appearance.
